Projekt Granitkusten

Development of the Granitleden website has been made possible by a generous contribution from Granitkusten, an association established on 27 November 2022.

Granitkusten

Granitkusten as an organisation was taken over by the newly formed association from Sotenäs municipality, which ran a project started in 2017 with support from Region Västra Götaland. The project included five municipalities: Strömstad, Tanum, Munkedal, Sotenäs and Lysekil. The newly formed non-profit association Granitkusten thus continued the work that the Granitkusten project has laid the foundation for.

Members of the association are non-profit and economic organisations that in some way work with granite, including local history and cultural associations. The number of members in the association is 12 (as of April 2023), but these associations included in Granitkusten together have several thousand members.

Granite puzzle

One project presented in April 2022 was a production of the 'Granite Puzzle'.

Storytelling benches

The Narrative Benches and Map 2023 project aims to place granite benches in five selected locations, along with a sign. This will include a map and a short description of the location where the sign is placed. A QR code will lead to a website. The website contains one + five stories - "the big one" that is common to all sites and five "small" ones that are specific to the different sites. On the website you can read the text yourself, or listen to a recorded version.

Each text is accompanied by a slideshow. In addition to these five selected sites, further signs will be put up at other member organisations.
