Old Svinesundsbridge

The Old Svinesund Bridge is a bridge over the Svinesund strait, which borders between Sweden (Strömstad Municipality in Västra Götaland County) and Norway (Haldens municipality in Østfold county).

The Old Svinesund Bridge was built in 1939–1942 and is 420 meters long with a sail-free height of 58 meters. The bridge was commissioned in 1946 and then replaced a ferry across the strait. The bridge is narrow according to modern Swedish standards, but has sidewalks on both sides, protected by roadblocks.

The bridge lies desolate, but there are picnic areas, tourist information and shops at both landmarks. On the Norwegian side there is a monument over the fiftieth anniversary of the opening of bronze, with the signatures of the kings of Norway and Sweden.
