3000 year old massive Bronze Age Cairn in Østfold

Gunnarstorp cairn is a Bronze Age burial cairn located at the top of a hill which once would have had commanding views down to the coast and its many islands. Nowadays spruce trees hide some of that view. The site is located along route 110 on the oldtidsveien or prehistoric road between Skjeberg and Fredrikstad. There is a sign along this road which leads you up a gravel lane to a car park from where you can walk uphill past some standing stones which date from the Iron Age to the massive Bronze Age cairn. The cairn is 3 metres high and 30 metres across and is around 3000 years old. There is a burial chamber at its base. 350 metres further up the hill through the trees are Gunnarstorp standing stones.
