One of Bohuslän’s eerie burial grounds located east of Skee. In the Iron Age burial grounds are usually dominated by mounds and stone compositions. Dårskilds Högar stands out thanks to the numerous and exceptionally well-preserved ‘judgments rings’.
If you want to see stone circles then Dårskilds Högar is the place to be. 15 stone circles are located in this burial ground! The largest one (number 15) is also the most impressive one, 18 m in diameter and 19 stones. The smallest one (number 14) is only 4 m in diameter. But there is more to see: the map on site shows 17 burial mounds, 9 cairns, 2 hunting pits and 17 graves, some disturbed. We’ve tried to find them all, but that was quite a challenge!
The burial ground is named after a legend of King Dårskild. The myth says that at this place the king and his men lost a battle. They all died and were buried in the högar.
