Bottna Church is a church building in Bottna parish in the Diocese of Gothenburg. It is located on a hill overlooking the Bottnafjord in Tanum municipality.
The church was built in the 12th century and still has a medieval character. The walls are thick with very few and small windows. The chancel is now straight and the result of a rebuilding in the 16th or 17th century, but there was previously an apse, the rounded inner wall of which is visible in today's chancel gable.
Before the rebuilding of the choir, the church burned at some point. To the west there is a small porch, which is actually the remains of a medieval west tower. The entrance is located on the southern long side.
The church tower is on the west side and has a lower part of stone with a narrower upper part of wood, with hammer bands and floor beams built from older, reused oak beams of unknown age. In the 18th century the current window openings were added.
Between 1965 and 1966 the church was extensively renovated under the direction of Erik Lundberg, who left his mark on the interior. New benches, a new altar and new lighting fixtures were added. An old stone floor was removed and a new interior was added to the porch. A cavity was also bricked up behind the altarpiece. Source: https://sv.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bottna_kyrka
